Oscar Trivia #3

Former Academy president Gregory Peck made a controversial decision back in 1968. He allowed Barbra Streisand to become a voting member of the Academy without the usual two-year wait period following a first film release.

She then voted for herself in the 1968 Best Actress race, causing a tie. Katharine Hepburn in The Lion in Winter and Streisand in Funny Girl were the first ever exact tie winners.

Whoa. How would it feel to know you only won your Oscar (in a tie, no less) because someone bended the rules for you and you voted for yourself??

Somehow I feel like that would take a little of the joy out of it.
