I love this film. This and Pretty Women are the only films I like Gere in. And is it blasphemous to say I wish Winger had won?
Gere is flat in almost everything he does. He has this smugness about him that just rubs me the wrong way.
A few people would probably be screaming obscenities at you for wishing Winger over Meryl Streep's most celebrated performance, don't you think? ;)

Not a Streep fan at all...but Sophie's Choice is great. She AND Winger probably tie.
And about Gere...I KNOW. He really doesn't appeal to me.
Hey I just forgot they were up against Jessica Lange in Frances who was just as good...
I forgot both Winger and Frances on my post on fave nominees. They'd probably be 20 and 21
Yeah, we're on the same page where Meryl is concerned. I think she's definitely an extremely talented actress, but not worthy of the fanaticism, in my mind.
