JGL in Inception

Joseph Gordon-Levitt on the set of Christopher Nolan's Inception, which is easily on the list of my top 5 most anticipated films of next year.

He looks kinda dapper, doesn't he? Pictures of DiCaprio are on the grungy side, so I'm really interested to see more of the film and get a sense of the visual aesthetic.

(500) DAYS OF SUMMER

Screenplay by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber
Directed by Marc Webb
xxx
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Zooey Deschanel

Premiere date: January 17, 2009 (Sundance Film Festsival)
PG-13 for sexual material and language.

This is a story of boy meets girl.

Tom, the boy, still believes, even in this cynical modern world, in the notion of a transforming, cosmically destined, lightning-strikes-once kind of love. Summer, the girl, doesn't. Not at all. But that doesn't stop Tom from going after her, again and again, like a modern Don Quixote, with all his might and courage. Suddenly, Tom is in love not just with a lovely, witty, intelligent woman - not that he minds any of that - but with the very idea of Summer, the very idea of a love that still has the power to shock the heart and stop the world.

Zooey and Joey

I'm headed to the theater this morning to finally see (500) Days of Summer, and I wanted to take a moment to note my enthusiasm. This is the most excited I've been about a romantic comedy since....ever, actually. These two make an adorable pair, no?

The Cast of Inception

We know next-to-nothing about Christopher Nolan's follow up to last year's smash The Dark Knight, Inception, a fact which may or may not be remedied with this Friday's release of the teaser trailer. Teasers for Nolan's films are some of the few that actually tease, showing us very little of the plot.

What we do know, though, is that Inception boasts a killer cast. Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are the four headliners. Oddly enough they all have some pretty major projects out this year. Shutter Island. Public Enemies. Nine. Whip It. (500) Days of Summer.

Other members of the cast include Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Ken Watanabe, and Tom Hardy.

Lots of big names. It's not surprising, after The Dark Knight's crazy success at the box office and Heath Ledger's Oscar win, that stars are lining up to work with him. The long list of A-listers in Inception will only bolster already high expectations for Nolan's next. Here's hoping the film lives up to them.

Side note: Am I the only one hoping that Nolan and Cotillard hit it off big time? Like, big enough for her to be cast as Catwoman in the next Batman film?
