(500) DAYS OF SUMMER

Screenplay by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber
Directed by Marc Webb
xxx
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Zooey Deschanel

Premiere date: January 17, 2009 (Sundance Film Festsival)
PG-13 for sexual material and language.

This is a story of boy meets girl.

Tom, the boy, still believes, even in this cynical modern world, in the notion of a transforming, cosmically destined, lightning-strikes-once kind of love. Summer, the girl, doesn't. Not at all. But that doesn't stop Tom from going after her, again and again, like a modern Don Quixote, with all his might and courage. Suddenly, Tom is in love not just with a lovely, witty, intelligent woman - not that he minds any of that - but with the very idea of Summer, the very idea of a love that still has the power to shock the heart and stop the world.

Zooey and Joey

I'm headed to the theater this morning to finally see (500) Days of Summer, and I wanted to take a moment to note my enthusiasm. This is the most excited I've been about a romantic comedy since....ever, actually. These two make an adorable pair, no?

500 Photos Of Summer?

I would love to know if there are exactly 500 pictures of Zooey Deschanel's Summer on this poster, but I'm far too lazy to count. I hope to finally catch this film early next week. I'll be talking about it more after I do.

Fox Searchlight definitely outdoes itself again and again in the marketing department. From the iconic Little Miss Sunshine VW bus to the orange and white Juno stripes, they know how to sell them over there.

By the way, this is a tagline I can get behind: "This is not a love story. This is a story about love."
