No. No. No.

There's a sequel a-brewin' for the 1988 classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Not.
Good.
News.

Not at all. I hate unnecessary sequels, especially to movies that are decades old. Just leave well enough alone, y'all.

Thumbs Down

Almost as disappointing as Shutter Island's move to February is the news that Sony Pictures Classics has decided to hold out on us with Get Low.

Instead of a fall 2009 release, which would have easily put Robert Duvall in the race for Best Actor, the studio is planning a mid-2010 drop, which I guess saves them money in the short run, but ultimately seems like a bad move. Without the recent Toronto buzz, I'm afraid Duvall will get lost in the shuffle and not make it to awards season next year. I guess then they won't have to spend much on an awards campaign, though.

Boo on you, SPC.

I'd Be Crying Too

xxx
And not just because of that gray felt penis-hat. Was there a worse career decision made last year than Katie Holmes turning down The Dark Knight to make that awful girl-power bank robbery movie, Mad Money? I don't think so.
xxx
This time last year The Dark Knight had just passed the $500 million mark, while Mad Money made just over $25 million internationally in its entire run. Boo-hoo indeed.
xxx
If it was mad money Holmes was looking for, the smart move would have been to sign on with Christopher Nolan. What was she thinking?

If I were Katie I'd still be crying myself to sleep.
