In 1974, a hot-headed 19-year-old named Michael Peterson decided he wanted to make a name for himself. And so, with a homemade sawn-off shotgun and a head full of dreams he attempted to rob a post office. Swiftly apprehended and originally sentenced to 7 years in jail, Peterson has subsequently been behind bars for 34 years, 30 of which have been spent in solitary confinement. During that time, Michael Petersen, the boy, faded away and 'Charles Bronson,' his superstar alter ego, took center stage.

I must say I was shocked when I recently saw Hardy with over-pumped muscles, looking very scary. But it's nice when actors are ready to cover some new physical limits in order to make their performances better (no wonder the current poll over at my blog is about actresses who are ready to turn ugly in order to make amazing roles).
Hardy is one of those amazing young talents waiting to be discovered in a big way. Here in Europe, he is in the class of our beloved young actors with James McAvoy, Hugh Dancy, Matthew Goode, Paul Bettany ....
